so the first day has come and gone and it was filled with mischief and wonder.
this house is sweet. we miss our house from last year, and it will always hold a place deep in our hearts. but i have to say. this house is freakin amazing. its like a 6 bedroom house, 4 baths, huge common area/kitchen. hot tub. 2 decks, oceanfront, dual car park areas underneath. its just peeeemp. and we have it by the grace of God too. the reason we aren't old enough for our house is cause apparently they only rent to families. a little strange, and a little hidden in our contract as well. although we're close, we're not family, and without some patience on me and dave's part, some quick diligent prayer in the rental office while they were on the phone with the property owners, and some sexy looks, we would be sleeping at the kill devil inn, or something equally as trashy. thankfully, with the help of the things listed above, and some more deposit on dave's very tired CC, we're good to go. thus, day one began...
me, troy, and dave ran on the beach today. for some reason, they convinced me to run without the old new balances i brought for the sole purpose of running on the beach, and for walking through any mysterious dark waters that i may have driven a jeep into while we're here. we started running and it was fine. until we started running into fields of dried sea straw, sticks, and shards of broken shells. then on the way back, we were high stepping so that our feet wouldn't scald in the 1 o'clock, peak of the day sand. they still hurt a bit. we fixed our idiocy by running on the path along beach road later in the day.
later, me, mikey, troy, dave, troy and scooter went to some surf shops so i could find some sunglasses. i forgot mine. plus i think they're gay so i wanted new sweet ones. we went to this new surf shop down here called coastal edge. we ended up staying there trying on sweatshirts, hats, glasses, and board shorts and asking each other what we thought.
the most fun part was when erin, our kind sales associate, walked down the sunglasses cases with me, opening each one, and offering advice, suggestions, and the benefits and downsides of each pair. mikey was like, "so where are you at school?" she was like "first flight secondary school." saaaweeet.
i ended up with a rockstar pair of Dragon shades. good choice. troy gave me a birthday present and hooked me up on part of the cost. it was very rad. it was the first expensive sunglasses i ever bought. i really like them.
we unwound tonight with some burgers, dogs, corn-on-the-cob and some vodka sprites with limes (of age folk of course!), courtesy dave. we're about to go crash the brew station for their open mic. see what's up. 80's night tomorrow night! it's going to be a good week. the weather's perfect. the mood is right... TGIF!! or should i say, TGINF.
you get it.
peace,
martin
